Story

Commissioner Matteo Rolandi (Claudio Cassinelli) is a narcotics officer, but finds himself circumstantially intertwined with a bombing investigation, possibly a terrorist attack. He makes some critical breakthroughs on discovering the bombers’ identities, but his detective work is unappreciated by the other officers officially handling the case. The film becomes, besides a thriller, also the photograph of one of the most politically and socially tense periods in recent Italian history.

Story

Rome, 1970s. One day, a young musician meets by chance a beautiful girl in heroin withdrawal. He falls in love and tries to help her, discovering a shocking underworld of drugs, junkies and pushers.

Sergio Nutis Drug-related Drama from the late Seventies is a shattering but also prosaic contemporary document of the Drugscene Rome ´s. Predominately placed in the intellectual student scene Heroine dominates the daily routine melancholically-sad supported by the score of Maurizio Rota a.o.
The film was shoot with amateurs of whom most were connected to the Drugscene and because of this is totally authentic. The Film was shoot on original locations and is an fantastic historical document of the social circumstances of these times.

Never before available on home video, this drugsploitation film is one of the first attempts to portray the heroin scene of the 1970s, preceding cult movies like CHRISTIANE F. (1981), EL PICO (1982) and AMORE TOSSICO (1983). The film is played by non-professional actors, many of whom were linked to the drug circle and died in later years.

This is the only film directed and starred by Sergio Nuti, who worked mainly as an editor on LO CHIAMAVANO VERITA’, MALEDETTI VI AMERO’ and Marco Bellocchio’s GLI OCCHI, LA BOCCA. Producer Manfredi Marzano had previously worked on films like CHI SEI and LUCREZIA GIOVANE.

The film features an unforgettable folk rock score by Maurizio Rota (leader of the prog band Alberomotore), with songs by some of the most interesting names in the Italian indie music scene of the 1970s, including Alan Sorrenti and Canzoniere del Lazio.

Sadly the movie had a tragic destiny. After a short time in a cinema Rome ´s and screening on two festival in Italy and Switzerland the planned distribution Company went bankrupt before distribution and the film went in obscurity. Nonetheless Dont count on us is a great historical document Rome ´s of the late seventies and shows a unemotional, sad and disenchanted view of the Drug Scene Rome ´s.
