Wir führen unsere Reise mit zwei italienischen Polizeifilmen fort und es handelt sich um ausgesprochene Perlen des Genres. Zum einen haben wir da „Der unerbittliche Vollstrecker“ aka La Polizia sta a guadare aka Ransom! police is watching aka The great Kidnapping von Roberto Infascelli mit der Traumbesetzung Enrico María Salerno und Lee J Cobb! Weiters wirken Jean Sorel, Laura Belli und Luciana Paluzzi mit sowie viele bekannte Gesichter des Genres. Veredelt wird der Film mit einem Score von einem musikalischen Meister dieses Filmgenres, Stelvio Cipriani.

Zum anderen begeben wir uns nach Bari, Apulien – „Die Killer der Apocalypse“ aka La legge violenta della Squadra Anticrimine aka Cross Shot von Polizeifilm Spezialist Stelvio Massi. Auch hier eine imposante Besetzung mit John Saxon, Lee J Cobb, Renzo Palmer, Lino Cappolicchio, sowie Thomas Hunter. 

Beide Filme wurden mit Bonusmaterial von Mike Malloy ausgestattet, dem Macher von Eurocrime! Bei „Der unerbittliche Vollstrecker“ gibt es ein Featurette über Lee J Cobb über seine Zeit speziell in Italien. Bei „Die Killer der Apocalypse“ gibt es ein informatives Interview mit John Saxon über seine Abenteuer in Italien.

We continue our journey with two Italian police films and they are downright gems of the genre. On the one hand we have Ransom! Police is watching aka The great Kidnapping  aka La Polizia sta a guadare aka Der unerbittliche Vollstrecker by Roberto Infascelli with the dream cast Enrico María Salerno and Lee J Cobb! Jean Sorel, Laura Belli and Luciana Paluzzi are also in the cast, as well as many familiar faces of the genre. The film is enhanced with a score by a musical master of this film genre, Stelvio Cipriani.

Secondly, we go to Bari, Apulia – Cross Shot aka La legge violenta della Squadra Anticrimine aka Die Killer der Apocalypse by police film specialist Stelvio Massi. Again an impressive cast with John Saxon, Lee J Cobb, Renzo Palmer, Lino Cappolicchio as well as Thomas Hunter. 

Both films are equipped with bonus material by Mike Malloy, the maker of Eurocrime! On Ransom! Police is watching there is a featurette on Lee J Cobb about his time specifically in Italy. On Cross Shot there is an informative interview with John Saxon about his adventures in Italy.

Inspector Mark Terzi, who is acting incognito under Mark Patti, gets hired in Rome by terrorists Paul Henkel (John Steiner) and Olga Kube (Marcella Michelangeli). His mission leads him to Vienna without knowing what it will be. With his austrian colleagues and the shady US Agent Altman (John Steiner) Terzi tries to discover the planned attack. After a murder attack were he should have been and isn’t by accident he realizes somebody plays wrong. Shortly after the terror attack with Terzi ´s participation is taking shape…..    

The third installment in the (incoherent) „Mark“ series from director Stelvio Massi and probably the best of this short lived series. The Massi attributes like great action, fine camera and a solid story are coming to perfection in this film. The solid police thriller story does also include a political context exceptionally played by John Steiner and Marcella Michelangeli covering the political Zeitgeist with the RAF and Brigata Rossa. 

The story is set in Rome, Vienna and Mailand and was also shot on original sets. Leading actor Franco Gasparri plays a strong lead and is greatly supported by John Saxon, Paul Muller and the two Terrorist Leaders Steiner and Michelangeli. 

Completed by a typical and very fine Stelvio Cipriani score.

Story

Commissioner Matteo Rolandi (Claudio Cassinelli) is a narcotics officer, but finds himself circumstantially intertwined with a bombing investigation, possibly a terrorist attack. He makes some critical breakthroughs on discovering the bombers’ identities, but his detective work is unappreciated by the other officers officially handling the case. The film becomes, besides a thriller, also the photograph of one of the most politically and socially tense periods in recent Italian history.

A LUCIANO ERCOLI film, director of titles such as Le foto proibite di una signora per bene (Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion, 1970); La morte cammina con i tacchi alti (Death Walks on High Heels,1971); La morte accarezza a mezzanotte (Death Walks at Midnight, 1972).

Leading actors are CLAUDIO CASSINELLI known for La polizia chiede aiuto (What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, 1974); Morte sospetta di una minorenne (Too Young to Die,1975); Milano violenta (Bloody Payroll, 1975); La montagna del Dio cannibale (Slave of the Cannibal God, 1976) and Murder Rock (1984).

ARTHUR KENNEDY known for Murder She Said (1961); The Fantastic Voyage (1966), but also euro-cult favorites such as The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue (1974) and L’anticristo (The Antichrist,1974).

Enhanced by the music of STELVIO CIPRIANI, composer of more than 300 scores: Reazione a catena (Bay of Blood, 1971); Blindman (1971); La polizia chiede aiuto (What Have They Done to Your Daughters?, 1974) and Solamente nero (The Bloodstained Shadow, 1978).
